How to Register a Death in Delhi
- Determine the Jurisdiction
- NDMC Areas: Central Delhi regions like Connaught Place, Lutyens’ Delhi, etc.
- MCD Areas: Covers the rest of Delhi, including North, South, and East Delhi.
Ensure you approach the correct authority based on where the death occurred.
- Timeframe for Registration
- Within 21 Days: No fee is charged for registration.
- After 21 Days but within 30 Days: A late fee of ₹7 is applicable.
- After 30 Days but within 1 Year: Requires permission from the Registrar and a late fee of ₹10.
- After 1 Year: Registration is done only with an order from the area magistrate (SDM) and a late fee of ₹15. New Delhi Municipal Council
- Required Documents
- Application Form: Available at the respective municipal office or online.
- Proof of Death: Hospital death summary, cremation/burial certificate, or a medical certificate of cause of death.
- Identity Proof of Deceased: Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport, etc.
- Address Proof of Deceased: Utility bills, rent agreement, etc.
- Identity & Address Proof of Applicant: Same as above.
