How to Register a Death in Delhi

  1. Determine the Jurisdiction
  • NDMC Areas: Central Delhi regions like Connaught Place, Lutyens’ Delhi, etc.
  • MCD Areas: Covers the rest of Delhi, including North, South, and East Delhi.

Ensure you approach the correct authority based on where the death occurred.

  1. Timeframe for Registration
  • Within 21 Days: No fee is charged for registration.
  • After 21 Days but within 30 Days: A late fee of ₹7 is applicable.
  • After 30 Days but within 1 Year: Requires permission from the Registrar and a late fee of ₹10.
  • After 1 Year: Registration is done only with an order from the area magistrate (SDM) and a late fee of ₹15. New Delhi Municipal Council
